The programme, attracting extraordinary interest of more than 130 citizens, was opened by the introductory words of the Mayor of Prague 16, Mgr. Karel Hanzlík, who summed up the long history of the town hall’s intention: to move this former industrial part of the city and now gradually dilapidated buildings including the unsuitable construction yard towards the 21st century; to create a place where people will like to go shopping, where they will visit a new town hall to attend to everything they need in one place, and where a new offer of quality housing, now desperately lacking in Radotín, will be created.

„The entire project has been in preparation for a long time, and the local authority is trying to solve all the ambiguities and contradictions. This was also repeatedly mentioned in the discussion, and it turned out that the involvement of an independent expert, Ing. arch. Petr Hlaváček, had been a great move," the mayor of Radotín appreciates the work of the former director of the Prague Institute of Planning and Development. Thanks to several months of his work, the permanent pressure of the town hall to change the original project (first presented in 2013) and the change in legislation, things have moved, and the new proposal has undergone a number of fundamental changes.

The moderated discussion, which included other members of the self-government (especially the 1st deputy mayor Mgr. Miroslav Knotek), designers, representatives of the investor and architects, was prepared for Radotín citizens, and their discussion contributions, opinions and questions were the core of the evening. The contributions were often quite conflicting, particularly in the field of transport – transport clearly sparked the greatest interest and every now and then a heated debate arose. Should there be more, or less parking spaces in the locality? Will there be enough of them for both new and existing residents? Should the increase of parking spaces be at the expense of the planned green areas, or at the expense of the up to 10 meters wide pavements of the shopping street?

Other discussed topics included relocation of the existing boiler house, height of buildings, water management (within Radotínský potok brook, including rainwater), renovation of the existing unsightly buildings of the shopping centre and of course transport to and from the centre, especially in the area of the newly created large crossroads below Koruna, and further in connection with the state planned optimization of the railway corridor and the accompanying removal of the Na Betonce crossing.

Given the extent of the discussion and numerous questions in many blocks, the town hall prepares more extensive information on this topic (in the form of most frequently asked questions and answers), presentation of the shape of the intention itself (i.e. the actual study) and supplementary texts.

Also, in April or May 2018 at the latest, commented tours should be held in the area of the náměstí Osvoboditelů square. We will inform you about the dates in advance.
